GRAND HAVEN, Mich., March, 14 2008 – The Greater Ottawa County United Way awarded Shape Corp. with the G.W. Haworth Strength of the Community Award on March 13, 2008.

In 2007, Shape associates participated in over 20 community projects, including some with United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore. Associates are also involved in an internal program called the Helping Hand, which gives assistance to associates who have fallen on hard times.

Shape employees donated over $141,000 to United Way in the 2007-2008 campaign, of which $38,950 was donated by the company. A total of 922 out of over 1,300 associates donated during the campaign.

“They [Shape associates] really go above and beyond in the community, not just the United Way,” said Angie Barksdale, director of development for the Greater Ottawa County United Way.

The award typically goes to the individual or couple that best exemplifies a spirit of volunteering and philanthropy, but organizers wanted to recognize Shape’s community contributions with their most prestigious award.
